Let's face it, trying to conceive is a big issue. At least 90 million couples world-wide, 11 million in the US alone, are trying to conceive at a given time. With only a 20% average chance of becoming pregnant each cycle, it's no surprise that couples can become stressed. In fact 75% of trying to conceive couples report an increased frequency of vaginal dryness.

Unfortunately, most personal lubricants harm sperm. Research conducted on personal lubricants over the past three decades has clearly demonstrated the detrimental effects that these products have on sperm (see references on package insert).

Many sites, (including medical ones) incorrectly state that lubricants are non-toxic to sperm if they do not contain a spermicide or if they are water soluble. This is contrary to the scientific findings published by Medical School faculty in over 10 different publications.

For example, this graph shows sperm motility at ZERO after contact with three popular lubricants as reported by investigators at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Kutteh, et al. 1996). You will recognize these products, and you may recognize their claims that they do *"not kill sperm" or that they have ** "no effect on sperm motility". Just a quick note to say "Thank You" to Toni Weschler for the wonderful Taking Charge of Your Fertility book and to the team at Baby Hopes for the Pre-Seed! I'm happy to say that my husband and I just found out that we are expecting!! The doctor confirmed with a blood test last week and a follow up test today. Their exact words were "you are very pregnant!" Without the information shared in the book, who knows how long we would've continued trying to conceive. And the Pre-Seed was just what we needed.
