TTC- What’s Steak Got to Do With It?

If you are trying to conceive and have been for long enough that you are getting worried about infertility and whether or not you should see a doctor then you might want to check out what your man is eating. The reason why is that some foods, especially steak and burgers, can reduce sperm count and make conceiving difficult. If the couple has any other issues with conceiving then eating steak and burgers can compound the situation even more.

So, what’s the solution? Stop eating steaks and burgers and opt for other foods. Reduce the alochol, smoking, and any recreational drugs while you are at it. Conceiving is not always easy and for some couples little changes really can make a world of difference.

The study that spanned four years and helped determine that diets high in meat and high fat dairy products resulted in lower sperm counts. This means men who eat less dairy, less meat, and more fruits and vegetables will have a higher sperm count. Another bonus for these healthy-eating-men is that there sperm swim faster, too!

 If you are worried about your mate’s sperm count and you are actively trying to conceive try making healthier meals for both of you.

Getting health concience before you get pregnant is a really good idea, anyway. It will help you establish a habit of healthy eating before all the crazy cravings kick in and hopefully you will be able to make good food decisions.

There are so many things that can cause a low sperm count, but what you eat is an easy one to control. Give it a try if you are trying to conceive and perhaps it will make all the difference. Of course, if you have been trying for more than a year you will want to see your doctor first to ensure there are not any other problems that would require treatment.
