Trying to Conceive- Things to Think About
Are you trying to conceive? If so, there are several things you should think about beyond ovulation and when to do the love dance! Believe it or not, but there are quite a few things that many couples overlook when they begin trying to conceive and there are things that you should definitely consider. While you are tracking ovulation and trying to figure out what position will help best with conception, keep the following in mind, too!
Insurance
Insurance coverage is important whether you need it for maternity services or for trying to conceive through fertility treatments. Before you begin trying to conceive it is recommended that you check out your insurance coverage to determine what will be covered and what won’t. If your coverage is light on the fertility or maternity side you might want to increase your coverage depending on your needs. Do some research to find out what will be the best decision for you and your financial situation.
Family Leave
Family leave is another consideration both partners will want to consider before trying to conceive. Most companies will only approve family leave that is unpaid for up to 12 weeks for employees who have been working for at least one year. That is something you will want to consider before trying to conceive.
Vacation Time
If you are interested in conceiving a child you will want to save up as much paid vacation time as possible. Fertility treatments, pregnancy, and maternity leave require free time so the more paid vacation time and personal days you have the better.
Childcare
Of course, when you are first trying to conceive you don’t think much about childcare or who will care for your baby once you return to work (that is if you are returning to work). Although it may seem like a long time off you should keep in mind many of the top childcare facilities have long waiting lists. So, the sooner you get on a list the more likely you will have the childcare you want once your baby arrives!
These things may not seem as important as actually getting pregnant but they will all be an important part of your happiness during and after the trying to conceive process!
