Ladies, you need to realize something: your body is a machine. It’s an intricately-designed machine, capable of the most amazing feat that any machine can do: creating a life. Making a baby is, in some ways, all about the result of a number of miraculous chemical processes. Yes, there’s more to it, and there are all sorts of meanings and implications that we assign to that process. But at the end of the day, it’s all about your machine doing its thing.

To do that job effectively, you have to treat the machine properly. You need to give it the right fuel mix. You need to give it the tools and basic building blocks that it needs not just to conceive, but to grow that baby in a healthy way.

So, you start with the basics. Get regular, moderate exercise. Don’t smoke. Don’t drink excessively, and don’t abuse drugs. Watch out for prescription and over the counter meds that can interfere with conception, too.

Diet’s an important part,a s well. You need to prime your body by eating right. You need several servings of fruits and veggies every day. Leafy green veggies are the best. You want enough whole grains and dairy. You need to watch out for refined sugar, white flour and foods high in saturated fats.

You need to plug in some extra helpers, too. You need some Vitamin A, folic acid, calcium, zinc, Vitamin C, iron and other building blocks.

Ultimately, trying to conceive is about what you’re willing to do to make it happen. For many women, it means some truly radical lifestyle changes as they do what needs to be done to make the body machine function optimally.
