What Doctor Should I go to if I have PCOS?

If you have PCOS you may be wondering what doctor to see. It’s possible that you were seeing a gynecologist regularly and were diagnosed with PCOS after you found it difficult to conceive. You may be wondering if you should continue with your current doctor or look for a new one. The most important thing is for you to find a doctor that is knowledgeable of PCOS and has a good track record of treating women with this condition. The best way to find out if a doctor is knowledgeable in treatment of PCOS is to ask. If you go to a large practice with many Ob/GYNs then ask your doctor who would be the best to treat you. If you aren’t happy with any of the doctors, then do some research on your own.

One idea is to search the web for PCOS specialists in your area. You can also ask friends and family members for recommendations or visit forums for women with PCOS to see if you can find the help you need.

You will want to talk to the doctors before going in to seem them to see what their experience is with PCOS patients, how the go about treating the condition, and overall your gut instinct as to which would be best for you. If you are still having problems, look for a reproductive endocrinologist. This is a great place to start as PCOS is an endocrine disorder.

Keep in mind, too, that if you are not comfortable with a particular doctor you can always look for a new one. You should be comfortable with the doctor treating you and feel comfortable in the care you are receiving. Otherwise, you will just be wasting your time.

You can conceive if you have PCOS, just make sure you find the best doctor to care for you!
