I was all set to publish an article I have available but, as
I have gotten several questions already from our
subscribers, I thought I would just do some questions and
answers this time around.
Now for a disclaimer :)
I am not a medical professional or an expert in the
reproductive field. Any information provided in these
newsletters should be the starting point for your own
research. If you have any questions about your health and
your journey to parenthood, please be sure to visit your
health care provider.
Having said that, I *am* a great researcher and have quite a
bit of experience with the products we sell so I do have a
lot of information that I am more than willing to share.
On to the first question:

Missing egg white cervical mucus?
~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~
Hi,
I'm a twenty five year old female that has been trying to
get pregnant for nine months and finally did, but after
twelve weeks of pregnancy my dream ended with a miscarriage.
It's been six months now and no good news yet. I'm tired of
waiting, but I had noticed that I don't get my raw egg white
like mucus during my cycles. Last two times I had my
period, I got some for one day when I wiped and that was it.
So my question is, is there anything I can do to correct
that? Is my estrogen low? Should I see my doctor? Is there
anything he can give me?
Sincerely
Waiting
---------------
Dear Waiting,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I can understand your
impatience with getting pregnant again.
Lack of egg white cervical mucus can be a cause of your
inability to conceive. The egg white cervical mucus is very
helpful in getting the sperm where it needs to be at the
cervix. Lack of this type of cervical mucus can create a
situation where the sperm have a very difficult time
travelling the vagina to the cervix.
Lack of cervical mucus may caused by of a number of reasons
like anovulatory cycles, age, low estrogen levels, or use of
other drugs. The most important precursor to getting
pregnant is ovulation. If your lack of cervical mucus is
because you are not ovulating, it can be an indication of a
fertility related problem or infertility.
Are you sure you are ovulating? There are several ways in
which you can discover exactly when you are ovulating:
Ovulation Predictor Kits
http://www.babyhopes.com/ovulation-predictor-kit.html
Charting Your Basal Body Temperature
http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/basal-body-temperature-charting.html
Using a Saliva Fertility Monitor
http://www.babyhopes.com/fertilitymicroscope.html
The saliva fertility monitor will create a ferning pattern
as you get closer to ovulation. This ferning is caused by
the increase of estrogen around the time of ovulation. If
you have a low estrogen problem, the ferning may not happen.
Your age, 25, should not be an issue that would cause lack
of cervical mucus. As you get older and closer to
menopause, your body's hormonal balance changes which makes
it more difficult to get pregnant.
You can try a couple of things that can help the lack of
cervical mucus.
- Make Sure You Are Drinking Plenty Of Water.
If you are dehydrated, your body will not be able produce
the cervical mucus as it should.
- Try Taking Guaifenesin
Guaifenesin helps thin mucus in your body, cervical mucus
included. Robitussin is one of the popular OTC medications
that contain this ingredient. If you do choose this route,
be sure to check the label. You want to make sure that the
only active ingredient is the guaifenesin. Local drug
stores may even carry the pill format of just guaifenesin.
Beware :) the guaifenesin is not the most pleasant tasting
ingredient.
The suggested dosage for thinning cervical mucus is two
teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. You
should start taking this 5 days before you believe ovulation
to occur and the day of ovulation for a total of 6 days. If
this amount doesn't seem to make a difference in the quality
of your cervical mucus, you can take as much as four
teaspoons (400 mg) four times per day. Every time you take
guaifenesin, you should drink a full glass of water.
- Use A Lubricant When You Are Having Sex For Conception
If your body isn't cooperating with cervical mucus
production, you may want to try a lubricant to help the
sperm get to where they need to get. There are many
different types of lubricant on the market today, but most
are not sperm friendly. To optimize your chance of
conception, you may want to try Pre-Seed lubricant.
http://www.babyhopes.com/pre-seed.html
Pre-Seed is the only lubricant no the market which is
specifically formulated to be friendly to sperm.
If you have explored the issues and made changes to your
routine and still seem to be having problems, you may want
to discuss the issues with your health care provider. He
should be able to offer some suggestions that may help.
Good Luck!

The previous question was very related to another question
sent in. So with no further ado, time for the next question.
~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~
Is Pre-Seed all it is advertised to be?
~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~
My question is how effective is Preseed? Everyone I have
spoken to, including my OB/GYN and pharmacist, have never
heard of it. My husband and I are using it and it does work
"lubrication-wise", however, I just want to make sure I am
not actually in fact hindering our chances of conception. I
know BabyHopes sells the product(which is where I purchased
it) however I would like to know where I could get an
unbiased opinion. Thank you so much for your time.

---------------
Hi Emily,
I can totally understand your wariness of the online
advertising of this product. It seems that where ever you
look you are having products pushed at you that are the
miracle cure for this or that, 95% of which appear to be
falsely marketed.
One of the reasons your Ob/Gyn and Pharmacist don't know
about Pre-Seed is that it is a relatively new product by a
small company. Pre-Seed had a rocky start from an ownership
/ financier point of view but Dr. E prevailed and was able
to carry on her work to promote this wonderful product. You
can read more about the issue at
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/155445_ing06.html As
time goes on, you will see more and more Doctors and
Pharmacies carrying the product.
Luckily, Pre-Seed is not one of these products. There are
many research studies that show that Pre-Seed is what it
claims to be, the only truly sperm friendly lubricant.
You can find a listing of these studies at
http://www.helpconceive.com/hc_underEffects.html
Unfortunately, you will have to do some research to gain
access to some of these studies. Some of the studies don't
deal directly with Pre-Seed, but do review the effects of
other popular lubricants on sperm. One of the most recent
studies was done by the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Basically
is showed that Pre-Seed preserved the integrity of the sperm
and that other popular lubricants, Ky Jelly and Fem-Glide,
actually caused damage and shortened the sperm's viability.
You can read the abstract of the study submitted to the
American Society of Reproductive Medicine in October 2005 by
the Cleveland Clinic. The link is for a .pdf file.

Another good way, to figure out if the claims are true, is
to visit the trying to conceive message boards. They will
usually have a very honest evaluation. One of the more
popular trying to conceive message boards is ovusoft.com
You can search their forums at
http://www.ovusoft.com/forum/search.asp If you search for
Pre-Seed or preseed you will find many discussions which
contain comments about Pre-Seed.
Another good message board is http://boards.webmd.com The
search box for the message boards is located in the middle
of the page.
Good Luck!
