Benefits of an Organic Diets When You are Trying to Conceive

Any woman who is trying to conceive or who is pregnant will benefit significantly by eating organic foods. Traditional foods are harmful because they are full of toxins and chemicals, which the woman and baby will be exposed to. That’s simply not the best way to go about conception or pregnancy so organic diets are certainly beneficial during pregnancy and after. It is amazing to many women, but fruits and vegetables that are conventionally grown have herbicides and pesticides that can cross the placenta and harm the fetus. Additionally, the synthetic growth hormones in food can affect both pregnant women and children. This means they may cause reproductive problems, developmental problems, and even cancer. Many girls are starting puberty very early due to the hormones in beef. This can cause cancer later on. This just goes to show how eating conventionally grown foods during pregnancy could literally be dangerous for the health of the mother and fetus. There has been significant research on organic foods and their benefits and women who are trying to conceive or who are pregnant will certainly benefit.

Those who are trying to conceive should keep in mind that the artificial hormones in many foods, mostly meats and dairy, could interfere with your body’s own hormone levels. Conceiving is based significantly on the woman’s body and her hormone regulation. If any hormone levels are off it could result in anovulation, a short luteal phase, or any other potential issue that could make conception difficult. Eating organic is not necessarily a cure-all and it can be expensive. However, if you start eating organic for a few months you will gradually clean all of the toxins and synthetic hormones out of your body. This is a great time to begin trying to conceive, just make sure you continue eating organic.

There are more and more organic food options these days, and even store brands are getting in on the organic market, so there truly is no excuse not to buy and eat as many organic foods as you can. It’s healthier for you, healthier for your baby, and better for the planet all around.
