Are There Vitamins To Help Increase Sperm Count?

A low sperm count can be one of the most frustrating fertility problems that couples can experience.  There are relatively few medical options for a man with a low sperm count.  Apart from the rare case where the low sperm count is due to a hormonal imbalance and it can be treated with medications, most men who have a low sperm count will never find a way to increase their sperm count medically.  The only options that will be available to them medically will be the rather aggressive fertility treatments, such as IVF and ICSI.  Because of this, many men have turned to a variety of vitamins and supplements to try to help increase their sperm count.

In terms of actual vitamins, there are three that are thought to help.  Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is thought to help increase sperm count as well.  Vitamin E is thought to help with both semen volume and with sperm count.  The final vitamin is B12, and is also thought to help increase sperm count.  In addition to these vitamins that can help increase sperm count, there are a couple of other nutritional supplements that are worth looking at that may help increase sperm count as well.  Selenium, Zinc, and carnitine all are thought to help with sperm count.  In addition, many of these vitamins and other supplements may not only help to increase sperm count, they may be able to help out with increasing sperm motility, as well as increasing the amount of normal sperm.

There are several herbs that people have used to try to help increase sperm count, alongside or instead of vitamins.  These have included Salabmisri, Kokilaksha, Vanya Kahu, Kokilaksha, Suvarnavang, Jeevanti, Shaileyam, and others.

While there is no guarantee that vitamins, herbs, or other supplements will help increase your sperm count, it may be worth a try to avoid the potential of having to rely on expensive and complex procedures in order to conceive.
